This is model represents the second order of B40-8s by the Santa Fe, which features the unique recessed short hood nose headlight. In the mid 1990s, BNSF renumbered the former ATSF B40-8s after the BN merger and patched them. Many escaped the paint shop and some wore the original ATSF paint until retirement from BNSF roster in mid 2010’s
