SD45T-2 Locomotives
Prototype Information: In 1972, Southern Pacific requested a specially designed locomotive to combat the problem of units overheating in tunnels due to the exhaust being sucked into the radiator.
The solution was a variation of the SD45-2 cooling modifications which pulled air in from the bottom instead of on top. This unit was nicknamed the "Tunnel Motor" for it's design.
EMD produced 247 units between 1972 to 1975 and was equipped with a V20 645 prime mover.
